We brought Pixelshrink into the team as the web-application needed some detailed graphic and interaction design work, to a challenging brief… They found some easy mechanisms for providing design in a way which could be easily integrated. They have been reliable and delivered work in a timely manner throughout, and we love what they produced.
NEON Project: UI design
The project brief
The NEON Project required an interactive web-application providing access to a large collection of mental health recovery narratives. It was custom built to ensure that it met the exact needs of the clinical trials, and could be tweaked and developed as the trial went on. It was important that the website was transformed from basic layouts to look attractive and not too clinical, and that it would be intuitive to use on all devices.
Our solution
Continuing our long relationship with the Institute of Mental Health, we collaborated with the research team and app developer to design an attractive and easy to navigate UI design (user interface), and integrated into the coding of the site.
Sensitivity was needed as some of the project participants experienced psychosis, and it was important that the user interface would not trigger issues for them.
The NEON Project (Narrative Experiences Online), a mental health research project based at the Institute of Mental Health in Nottingham, has collected many different mental health recovery stories from around the world. They want to understand if having access to real-life stories like this is helpful for people.
