The project brief

Dementia research project web design is our speciality, and building on the success of the INDUCT project, the University of Nottingham and the Institute of Mental Health approached us to create a logo and web design for Dementia DISTINCT too.

It was important for both projects to look like they’re in the same family, and there was still a need to showcase the valuable guidance that the project was producing.

Of course given the project name, it needed its own distinctive web presence.

Pixelshrink has done some excellent websites for us including the DISTINCT and INDUCT projects that have required engaging and easy to use pages which are accessible, versatile, and relevant across all our European research partners.

Gary is very expert in the field and always helpful in being able to promptly create, amend and update the websites as needed. We can recommend Pixelshrink highly and plan to use Pixelshrink for further websites and research projects in the future.

Our solution

To facilitate the projects having a related look and feel, we created the logo in a similar style to INDUCT, with the person icon incorporated into one of the I’s, symbolising living well with dementia.

It’s important not to reinvent the wheel and be cost-efficient, so it made sense for the guidance platform to integrate the recommendations from both projects. Having already created an interactive searchable guidance website online, we dual-branded it and integrated DISTINCT into it.

Complementing the PDF with the online version ensured that the information was presented in the most flexible and searchable way. Again, we advised on the search filters and a structure for the interactive version was drawn up, as recommendations from both projects cross-referenced each other.

Dementia DISTINCT is a sister project to INDUCT and has 15 Early Stage Researchers based all around Europe. The project is carrying out research projects aiming to improve the lives of people with dementia and their carers through technology.
