Dementia INDUCT: dementia technology research web development

Web design, logo design and custom web development for an EU-funded dementia research project and its online guidance directory.

The project brief

With many successful collaborations with the University of Nottingham and the Institute of Mental Health, the project approached us to provide dementia technology research web development services and logo design for the project.

Showcasing the 15 research areas was important. Guidance was produced by all of the researchers, and it was recognised that to compliment the guidance PDF file, a more interactive version would be beneficial so that users could easily find the guidance they needed.

The decision to give the project its own standalone website was the right one, as it has grown over the years and has needed the flexibility of custom web development.

We are very happy with the way and the speed with which Pixelshrink designed the web-based version of our Best Practice Guidance for Human Interaction with Technology in Dementia.

Their attitude was really customer-oriented, they were very open for suggestions and the communication with them was pleasant, effective and efficient. It was a real pleasure to work with them and we are very satisfied about the excellent result.

Our solution

Our approach with the logo design was to combine a technological feel with the font, and a human element with the person icon incorporated into the I, symbolising living well with dementia.

The project wanted to increase the interaction between the 15 researchers working on the project, so we added researcher profiles on the homepage.

As the project progressed, our dementia technology research web development services came into play: a Guidance document was produced from the findings, and we developed an interactive searchable version online, advising on the search filters. The PDF document was analysed and a structure for the interactive version was drawn up, as recommendations cross-referenced each other. We liaised with the project to ensure that the information was presented in the most flexible and searchable way, and integrated guidance from a sister project too, so work and costs weren’t duplicated.

Dementia Induct is a fascinating research project with 15 Early Stage Researchers based all around Europe. They’ve been working to improve technology and care for people living with dementia, and to find evidence to show how technology can improve their lives.
