This project supporting researchers with lived experience of mental health issues, substance use and neurodiversity needed attractive branding and a vibrant and easy-to-use website, but wanted to be careful about the imagery used on the website.
We would highly recommend Pixelshrink to other researchers who wish to make accessible and friendly websites for engaging with a range of different audiences. They were open to our ideas and happy to provide us with multiple design options for us to choose from. The team was sensitive to the needs of our project, flexible and patient with our responses. We were very happy to work on another project with the Institute of Mental Health, where our sensitivity around tailoring the website for its users’ needs comes to the fore. We walked them through the branding design process, giving 3 concepts for them to choose from.
The website was then inspired by those choices, and we used icons to break up the text. The stories section is built so that authors can submit multiple stories, and the news and events sections are integrated into the site design.
The Peer Research Academy connects lived experience researchers together and provides support for the work they do, through funded support, training and events. It is delivered by the University of Nottingham and commissioned by the Wellcome Trust Lived Experience Innovation Fund.
